The following events took place between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 3:
Honey and I were visiting his family about 4.5 hours away. We had been there since Friday evening and were on our way to say our goodbyes. We had his two nephews, 7 and 5, with us and were about to embark from Honey's mom's house to his brother's to drop off the nephews.
While waiting for the truck to warm up, we noticed a truck stopped in the middle of the road about a block and a half up the street. He stopped, got out, picked up his entire muffler off the street, threw it in the back of his pickup, and proceeded down the street past us. We had to giggle cuz, well, he dropped his whole muffler!
So off we go, up the street, when both Honey and I notice a cell phone lying in the street where the truck had stopped. Honey backed up, picked up the cell phone, and turned around to go back down the street in an effort to locate which direction the muffler-less truck had gone.
No idea. We lost him.
So, we turned around, again, and headed back up the street. We got a block past where the truck has lost his muff, and
got T-barred by a woman more concerned with drinking her milkshake than stopping at the stop sign.
This woman slammed into us HARD! She, heading north, ran into us heading east. She, driving a small Mazda truck, hit our full size truck right in the middle of the back passenger door and the bed of the truck.
When she hit us, she turned our truck around 180 degrees, people. A full-size truck. With her little Mazda!
Thankfully, and most importantly, no one in either vehicle were seriously hurt. However, we're all still experiencing back and neck pain, as well as chronic headaches.
The sad part is: Honey just bought this truck in January. Not one payment has been made on it yet. And, we're very afraid they are going to try to repair it, instead of total it out. The woman has accepted responsibility, and her insurance is working with us, but I have little faith in the system and am concerned about what is yet to come of medical expenses.
So, if you read my previous post, and was wondering how my weekend turned out...well, there it is. *sniff*

As they say, no good deed goes unpunished. Did you ever find the owner of the cell phone?
Michele sent me.
Hello, Michele sent me :)
What a very scary thing! I do hope your neck/back injuries clear with no problems. Try to pretend that for this time, the Ins. company does a fabulous thing for you all! I really hope it all works out for the best!
Aw. That stinks. Hopefully it'll turn out pain-free: both physically and financially -
Here via Michele today.
Speaking of cell phones, I read your article about cell phones and driving. I wrote this a few months back. You might enjoy.
